Clearview Juliet Balconies

Our Juliet balconies are rust-free and very easy to clean and maintain, unlike certain metals that are prone to rust and gradual surface deterioration due to weathering. They maximise the penetration of natural light, and provide an unobstructed view out, unlike railed Juliet balconies.

They can accommodate 2.5m openings without the need for stanchions and they involve less maintenance than many primarily metal/railed Juliet balconies. Using toughened glass panels, we often cap these with a metal top rail, ideally powder coated for a more comfortable touch for your needs.

Juliet Variations

Our Clearview Juliet Balconies are available in various styles and sizes to suit your needs. We have a standard Juliet specification but can give extra supports so our Juliets can be versatile.

The ovular toprail is our standard option with a channel which secures the top of the glass in place. It provides excellent strength and comfort.

Stem brackets are another key element of the minimalist aesthetic. They provide strong, secure support for the glass with minimal use of materials.

An alternative to the stem bracket support, our bottom rail support has become increasingly popular. It mirrors the toprail with a channel securing the glass in place. This example also incorporates stanchions, but in most cases it is not essential.

Toprails are usually fixed to the wall fabric, but when required they can be attached to window frames. This example used a specially modified toprail support bracket.

Glass supported by offset stanchions is another design variation. This allows the option of a circular toprail instead of an ovular toprail.

Our clear glass panels make maximum use of natural light and the views from the building.

We can add a distinctive design feature with bespoke graphics applied to glass.

Our tinted panels can moderate the solar penetration without compromising the clarity of the view out.

Our glass-panelled Juliet balconies are renowned for providing a clear view out, but if required we can apply film to provide greater privacy or add a touch of colour.

Stem Bracket Support

Our Juliet balconies can come with Stem brackets which are another key element of the minimalist aesthetic. They provide strong, secure support for the glass with minimal use of materials.

Bottom Rail Support

An alternative to the Button Fixed support is our bottom rail support. This has become increasingly popular. It mirrors the toprail with a channel securing the glass in place.

Colour Range

Our aluminium balustrade top rail for our Juliet’s are powder-coated in a wide range of RAL colours. This powder coating can come in both nylon and polyester, nylon being a preferred application on superior chemical resistance, providing the highest level of abrasion resistance. Whereas polyester is favoured for weather and UV resistance, providing greater colour stability than nylon, which will fade faster with prolonged exposure to sunlight. Bespoke RAL colours can be achieved here at Neaco as we have our own in-house powder coating plant. The powder coating gives the balustrade a satin-smooth finish which is non-chip, permanent, hardwearing and abrasion-resistant.

Why a Juliet?

A Juliet balcony is installed as a safety measure for floor-to-ceiling doors or windows on the upper floors of the building (first floor or above). Providing a fall protection measure, it allows the interior space to open out into the exterior in the manner of the patio doors on a ground-floor property. A Juliet balcony lets air and light into the interiors.

In accordance with BSEN 12600 as the new European-wide performance standard for impact safety for glass states, our glass Juliet balconies offer more unsightly meshed, railed and heavily barred balconies which often have a cage-like appearance. These balconies maximise the penetration of natural light and provide an unobstructed view.

FAQ’s

What is a modular system?
Modular systems provide a huge range of modular components which are precision- manufactured off-site to an exacting standard, delivered to the site and then assembled on-site. This means factory-controlled quality, faster installation, less mess, less waste and less energy consumption than products which are fabricated on-site. Spectrum's modular components are assembled with an internal connection system which requires no external fixtures and no welding for an ultra-smooth finish.
Why do Neaco manufacture in aluminium?
Aluminium is a great building material for many reasons: it provides maintenance-free durability and is also non-toxic, corrosive-free, non-combustible and 100% recyclable - a particularly useful feature for our Genesis industrial system designed for eco-friendly performance in the harshest environments. The permanent finish of Neaco’s nylon powder coating - a standard specification on most Spectrum systems - provides smooth, clean lines for comfortable touch and high aesthetic value. It is also worth noting that our stainless-steel systems provide many similar benefits.
Are the balconies supply only or can Neaco supply and install them?
Neaco can provide either package you desire. Our balconies are designed for fast installation, particularly our Juliet balconies which are available in packs of standard sizes and delivered within 3 weeks of ordering with all components ready to assemble. If you would instead have Neaco take care of the installation, we can arrange for our team of fitters to carry out the work.
Do I need planning permission for a Juliet Balcony?
In most cases, no - they are considered permitted developments. However, you will need to apply if it has a floor no matter how minimal (it will be considered a raised platform needing approval). If your property is listed or within a conservation zone, you will almost certainly require planning permission.
What is the maximum our Juliet’s span?
The maximum span for a uniformly distributed load of 0.74kn/m is a 2.5-metre masonry opening. Therefore, your Juliet balcony is recommended to be no wider than 2.5 metres. Glass Juliet balconies of a certain width may need two adjacent glass panels rather than a single panel.
What glass is utilised on the Juliet Balconies?
A clear 10mm thick toughened safety glass panel is used which follows the BS EN 12600 standard.
Do Neaco offer bespoke solutions?
Yes, absolutely. Over the years we have worked with numerous architects and designers to incorporate bespoke features outside of our standard specifications, including light fittings to the top of stanchions, etched designs to glass infills and structural glass installed at unusual angles. We pride ourselves on the flexibility and adaptability of our technical support services, so please feel free to discuss your particular requirements with one of our team.
