The Project
Neaco’s Linedek Handrail and Techdek flooring was specified on Heathrow Airport’s roof to create a roof walkway on their £4.3 billion Terminal 5 development. At the design stage, Hathaway Roofing fabricated a benchmark sample of the roof structure which met with the architects’ approval.
Acting on behalf of BAA, Hathaway Roofing selected this roof walkway combination to provide a walkway on the structure, measuring 39 metres high, 384 metres long and 165 metres wide, totalling some 65,000 square metres of roofing. Fitting in with the aluminium-based specification, our Genesis Range was chosen for its durability and aesthetic quality.
Techdek was also used on the project along with the Linedek to create the ultimate roof walkway.
Product Specified
Our Linedek Handrail has been designed as an integral element that is attached to the edge of the walkway. Designed to maximise structural efficiency with strong and secure support attached to the roof sheet, the system is ideally suited for use in conjunction with roof walkways.
Techdek is suitable for a multitude of applications, including staging, sunshades, modesty screens, balustrade infills, stair treads, decking and access walkways. Its modular components are manufactured off-site and are easy to assemble with no welding required.
