Louvredek was selected because we liked its superior aluminium appearance and it’s a cost-effective solution. We’re very pleased with the finished installation.”
Dan Humphreys | Jefferson Sheard
The lead consultant and architect, Jefferson Sheard, specified Louvredek for the £27m new build scheme’s highly visible entrance, which was designed to create aesthetic impact and increase the College brand. The front northwest and southwest vertical elevations comprise 1500m2 of glass which allows abundant penetration of natural light.
The Hillsborough campus, in the north of the city, is Sheffield College’s creative hub. Art and Design, Photography, Fashion, and Music departments are all based at the campus alongside more traditional courses such as A-Levels and its highly regarded Sports base. They had Louvredek installed here to reduce the net heat gain (commonly in the order of 20-40%) of sunlight striking the glass, making the atmosphere excellent for students.
Louvredek combined sunscreen/walkways achieve the optimum benefits of natural sunlight whilst creating an energy-efficient environment in any building. Their strong and good-looking aluminium sunscreen panels can be installed anywhere required: underfoot, on an angle or overhead.
The dual-purpose walkway/sunscreen profile is manufactured from panels consisting of alternate louvre extrusions and rectangular flat bars (if a walkway is not required, an alternative sunscreen profile is available with the louvre sections only). Our sunscreen/walkway range also includes Brise Soleil, a similar system which features curved louvre extrusions.
